Get to know Santa Pola

Santa Pola is a coastal town in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, wedged between the municipality of Elche and the Mediterranean. It was settled over the ruins of the Roman harbour Portus Illicitanus and repopulated around a castle. An archaeological museum tells this story.

To the north, along Alicante bay, lies Gran Alacant, close to Alicante Airport and the Carabassí nature reserve. The salt pans, still worked today, form the Salines de Santa Pola Natural Park. Boats run from the harbour to the island of Tabarca.
