Get to know Jaén

Jaén is the capital of the province of Jaén in Andalusia and the administrative and industrial centre of the province. Known as the world capital of olive oil, it hosts Expoliva, an international olive oil fair. Its landmarks include the cathedral, the castle, the Arab Baths and the International Museum of Iberian Art.

The historic core climbs the Cerro de Santa Catalina in steep, narrow streets, and newer neighbourhoods and boulevards spread over flatter ground. The Jaén and Jabalcuz ranges rise to the south, and the Guadalbullón river runs just north of the city. Olive groves cover much of the municipality.
