Villaviciosa de Odón is a municipality in the Community of Madrid, in the western part of the capital's metropolitan area. The old Calatalifa, the Castle of the Caliph, stood on this land and the chronicler Ibn Hayyan mentions it in the year 939. The town still has the Castle of Villaviciosa de Odón.

It borders Móstoles, Alcorcón, Boadilla del Monte, Brunete and Sevilla la Nueva. The Spanish Air Force Museum and the Universidad Europea de Madrid are here, which makes it a university town. Its quiet lifestyle and closeness to Madrid brought fast growth in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
