Get to know Vilaflor

Vilaflor de Chasna is a municipality in the south of the island of Tenerife, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. It has 1930 inhabitants (2025). The village sits at about 1400 m, south of the Teide volcano, and is the highest on the island.

Chasna was the old indigenous name of the village, and the word chasnero for its people comes from it. The first Canarian saint, Pedro de San José Betancur, known as Brother Pedro, was born here in 1626.
