Verín is a town and municipality in the southeast of the province of Ourense, in Galicia, on the Támega river. It sits in the heart of the Monterrei valley, and Portugal lies to the south. Together with the Portuguese city of Chaves it forms a Eurocity.

It is known for its Entroido carnival with the cigarrón figures, for the Fontenova, Cabreiroá and Sousas mineral waters and for the Monterrei castle that looms over it. It also has a parador and a denominated wine region, Monterrei. Its parts include Pazos, Tintores, Quizanes, Rasela, Villamayor de Valle, Abedes and Feces de Abajo.
