Vejer de la Frontera is a municipality in the province of Cádiz, in Andalusia, in the comarca of La Janda. The town stands on a hill on the banks of the Barbate river, 8 km from the coast. The municipal area includes a stretch of Atlantic coast, where El Palmar de Vejer lies.

Its walled historic centre still has the castle and several significant churches, and it was declared a historic-artistic ensemble in 1976. Vejer has belonged to the association Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España since 2014. The economy depends on agriculture and small-scale summer tourism.
