Vegas del Genil is a municipality in the central part of the Vega de Granada comarca, in the province of Granada. It belongs to the Granada metropolitan area, and the Genil river runs through its territory.
It was formed by the union of Ambroz, Belicena and Purchil, which is the municipal capital. It also includes Casas Bajas and a small part of El Ventorrillo. It borders Granada, along the Ronda district, and Churriana de la Vega, Cúllar Vega, Las Gabias and Santa Fe.
