Get to know Valle de Arán

Val d'Aran lies on the northern side of the Pyrenees, in the province of Lleida, and is the only contiguous part of Catalonia on that side of the range. It borders France to the north, Aragon to the west, Alta Ribagorça to the south and Pallars Sobirà to the east. The capital, Vielha, is home to the General Council of Aran, the valley's own government.

Aranese Occitan, Catalan and Spanish are all official here. The Garonne rises on the Pla de Beret and flows towards the Atlantic, and the climate is Atlantic. Alongside Vielha e Mijaran, the valley takes in Naut Aran, Bossòst, Les, Es Bòrdes, Vilamòs, Canejan and Arres.
