Get to know Valdoviño

Valdoviño is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, in northwestern Galicia. It lies in the comarca of Ferrol and covers a coastal strip from Campelo beach to the entrance of the Cedeira estuary. In the eighteenth century the first potatoes brought from America were grown here.

Its beaches are very popular for their natural scenery and among surfers. The Frouxeira sands and Pantín beach stand out, and Pantín hosts the Pantín Classic international surf championship every September. The A Frouxeira lagoon is a valuable ecosystem for birds, a resting place for migratory species. Valdoviño includes Meirás, Lago, Sequeiro, Pantín, Vilarrube, Loira and Vilaboa.
