Valdepeñas is a town and municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, Castilla-La Mancha, between the historic areas of Campo de Calatrava and Campo de Montiel. It grew up in the 13th century under the Order of Calatrava and has a long-standing wine industry, which earned it the nickname City of Wine. It is the heart of the Valdepeñas wine denomination and the seat of a judicial district.

Besides the main town, the municipality includes the neighbourhoods of Consolación and El Peral. The A-4 motorway and the railway that link the Meseta Central with Andalusia through the Despeñaperros Pass run through here.
