Get to know Torrox

Torrox is a municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the comarca of Axarquía on the Costa del Sol Oriental. It lies on the Mediterranean shore at the foot of the Sierra de Almijara. Under Arab rule it became a silk centre supplying Málaga and Granada, and today it has one of the largest German communities in Spain.

The municipality has two distinct parts: Torrox Pueblo, the historic inland village, and Torrox Costa, the modern resort where most people live. A subtropical microclimate lets farmers grow avocado, cherimoya, mango and loquat. The Autovía del Mediterráneo gives easy road access.
