Get to know EMD l'Estartit

L'Estartit is a seaside resort on the Costa Brava, part of the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí in the Baix Empordà comarca of Girona province, Catalonia. It lies between the foothills of the Montgrí massif and the Mediterranean Sea, and had 3,465 residents in 2025. The Medes Islands, a little over a kilometre away, are known for their many underwater species.

The town has a long beach of fine sand with shallow, clear water that suits children. Diving tourism brings in income for most of the year. On its southern side, the mouth of the Ter river is separated from the town by wetlands.
