Get to know Torrevieja

Torrevieja is a city on the Costa Blanca, in the Vega Baja comarca of the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community. It began as a salt-mining and fishing village and is now the third city of the province after Alicante and Elche. Spanish is the main language here.

The town faces the Mediterranean. Right beside it lie two large pink salt lakes, Las Salinas de Torrevieja, a landscape of high natural value where salt is still extracted. Tourism, salt and fishing drive the local economy.
