Get to know Teror

Teror is a municipality in the north-east of the island of Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands. It is set in the mountains and borders Las Palmas to the west. It is known above all for the veneration of the Virgen del Pino, who appeared in 1481 and is the patron of Gran Canaria, so it is called a Marian town.

Its old town, under monument protection, has a basilica, a quiet square in front of it and the picturesque Calle Real de la Plaza, lined with white houses with wooden balconies. Nearby are the Fuente Agria, with mineral waters, and the Osorio estate, with routes through lush vegetation. On September 8 the festivities of the Virgen del Pino take place, and there is a market on Sundays.
