Get to know Tarragonés

Tarragonès is a comarca in Camp de Tarragona, Catalonia, on the Mediterranean coast. It lies between Baix Penedès to the northeast, Alt Camp to the north and Baix Camp to the south. Most of its population lives in the capital, Tarragona.

It has twenty-two municipalities, among them Tarragona, Salou, Vila-seca, Torredembarra, Roda de Berà, Constantí, La Canonja and Altafulla. The plain between Tarragona, Valls and Reus once grew hazelnuts, olives, almonds and vines, and today much of it is taken up by industry, mainly chemical. To the northeast, hills such as the Tossa Grossa de Montferri separate it from Baix Penedès.
