Soto del Real, once known as Chozas de la Sierra, is a town in the north of the Community of Madrid. It lies on the south face of the Sierra de Guadarrama, in the Cuerda Larga area, 46 km from Madrid by road. Manzanares el Real and Miraflores de la Sierra are its neighbours on either side.

The municipality is small and runs from the Santillana reservoir up to the top of La Najarra, across the foothills. The nearest valley is the Hoya de San Blas. Colmenar Viejo is 11 km away.
