Sopuerta is a municipality in the province of Biscay, in the Basque Country, within the comarca of Las Encartaciones. Its name means "below the pass", a reference to the Port of Las Muñecas. It has 2820 inhabitants (INE 2025).
The district of Avellaneda lies within its boundaries, seat of the Casa de Juntas of Las Encartaciones, which houses the Museo de Las Encartaciones. The complex dates from the fourteenth century and was remodelled in the twentieth. The conquistador Francisco de Garay was born in the Garay tower in Sopuerta.
