Get to know Siero

Siero is a municipality, or concejo, in the centre of the Principality of Asturias. It borders Gijón, Oviedo, Llanera, Villaviciosa, Sariego, Nava, Bimenes, Langreo and San Martín del Rey Aurelio, and completely surrounds the municipality of Noreña. By population, it ranks fourth among the municipalities of Asturias.

People live in many settlements of different sizes, among them Lugones, the capital Pola de Siero, Viella, Carrera, Valdesoto, Granda, Anes and Lieres. Thanks to its central position it has a dense road network, including the A-66 and A-8 motorways. Both the FEVE and Renfe rail lines also cross it.
