Get to know Sant Joan Despí

Sant Joan Despí is a town in the Baix Llobregat comarca, province of Barcelona, on the left bank of the Llobregat river. Its history goes back to Roman times, when the place was called Vicomiciano. Early twentieth-century Modernista buildings are found across town, including two works by Josep Maria Jujol: the Torre de la Creu, known as the Torre dels Ous for its egg-shaped domes, and Can Negre.

The town has four distinct neighbourhoods: Centre, les Planes, Pla del Vent-Torreblanca and Residencial Sant Joan. FC Barcelona trains here at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and the club's Johan Cruyff Stadium, home of FC Barcelona Femení and FC Barcelona Atlètic, opened next to it. Catalan television TV3 also has its main studios in the town.
