Salt is a municipality in the Gironès comarca, province of Girona, Catalonia, and part of the urban area of Girona. It lies on the right bank of the Ter, next to the city, with which it was merged from 1974 to 1984. Among the towns of the Girona urban area, only the city itself has more people.

The A-7 motorway and the N-141 road pass through the municipality. From 1895 Salt was the temporary Girona terminus of the narrow gauge Olot-Girona railway, which closed in 1969 and is now a greenway.
