Salas is a concejo (municipality) of the Principality of Asturias, in the centre-west of the region, known as the Gateway to the West of Asturias. It borders Valdés, Cudillero and Pravia to the north, Belmonte de Miranda to the south, Pravia, Candamo and Grado to the east, and Tineo and Valdés to the west. It is mountainous, with coal mining and agriculture.

The capital is the town of Salas. Cornellana, in the Narcea valley, and La Espina, at the top of the pass of the same name, a crossroads towards Tineo and Valdés, also stand out. The concejo includes Villazón, Malleza, Lavio, Mallecina and Bodenaya as well.
