Get to know Rute

Rute is a municipality in the province of Córdoba, Andalusia, lying between Iznájar and Lucena. The provincial council of Córdoba named it a Tourist Municipality, the first in the province. Anise made in its many factories and traditional Spanish ham are what the town is known for.

At Christmas many visitors come for the local sweets, and Galleros builds a chocolate Nativity scene every year. Carnival in February draws people from other villages, and in May the Virgen de la Cabeza procession winds through the town. Olive growing is another key part of the local economy.
