Get to know Ronda

Ronda is a town in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, and the capital of the Serranía de Ronda comarca. Traditionally identified with Roman Arunda, it grew into a regional centre under Islamic rule and was taken by the Crown of Castile in 1485. After Antequera, it is the most populous town in the interior of the province.

The municipality sits on the Ronda Depression, a plateau ringed by mountains, with land suited to wheat, olives and vines. Buildings of the old town lean over the Tajo, and the gorge with its Puente Nuevo is the classic image of Ronda, also known for its corridas goyescas. The town belongs to the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, and the railway from Algeciras passes nearby.
