Get to know Ribeira

Ribeira is a coastal municipality in the south of the province of A Coruña and the capital of the Barbanza comarca. Its main town, Santa Uxía de Ribeira, grew around a fishing port that ranks among the most important in the province. Tuna is landed here for the local canning companies.

The municipality is divided into the parishes of Aguiño, Artes, Carreira, Castiñeiras, Corrubedo, Oleiros, Olveira, Palmeira and Ribeira. It has beaches such as Coroso, Castiñeiras and Vilar, and at Corrubedo lies the natural park of the dunes and the Carregal and Vixán lagoons.
