Get to know Ribadumia

Ribadumia is a municipality in the comarca of O Salnés, in the province of Pontevedra, in Galicia. The Umia river crosses its territory.

The municipality has six parishes: Ribadumia, Barrantes, Sisán, Leiro, Lois and Besomaño. In 1151, in the parish of Barrantes, a group tried to found a monastery with the help of the local magnate Gómez Núñez, but their efforts came to nothing.
