Poio is a municipality in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia, within the comarca of Pontevedra. It runs along the north shore of the Ría de Pontevedra, between Sanxenxo and the city of Pontevedra, and also borders Meaño and Meis. Its land mixes hillside and seafront.

Five parishes make up the municipality: Poio, San Xoán de Poio, Combarro, Raxó and Samieira. Tambo island, uninhabited and set in the middle of the estuary, officially belongs to Poio but is run by the Spanish Navy and closed to landings.
