Get to know Piélagos

Piélagos is a municipality in Cantabria and one of the largest in the community by area. It lies on the Santander-Torrelavega axis, the industrial and residential heart of Cantabria. The Zurita stele, a disc-shaped Cantabrian stele carved in sandstone, was found in its village of Zurita.

The municipality has 12 villages and 7 beaches. The Pas river, which rises in the Valles Pasiegos, reaches the sea here. Its neighbours include Miengo, Polanco, Torrelavega, Puente Viesgo, Castañeda, Villaescusa, El Astillero, Camargo and Santa Cruz de Bezana.
