Petrer, known in Spanish as Petrel, is a town in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, in the Vinalopó Mitjà comarca. Together with Elda it forms a conurbation, the fourth metropolitan area of the Valencian Community. Valencian is the main language here, while Spanish dominates in neighbouring Elda.
The Rambla dels Molins, a creek feeding the Vinalopó, runs through the town. Landmarks include the church of Sant Bartomeu, the Arab castle and the hermitages of Sant Bonifaci and Christ.
