Get to know Petrer

Petrer, known in Spanish as Petrel, is a town in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, in the Vinalopó Mitjà comarca. Together with Elda it forms a conurbation, the fourth metropolitan area of the Valencian Community. Valencian is the main language here, while Spanish dominates in neighbouring Elda.

The Rambla dels Molins, a creek feeding the Vinalopó, runs through the town. Landmarks include the church of Sant Bartomeu, the Arab castle and the hermitages of Sant Bonifaci and Christ. Built on footwear, furs and leather goods, the local economy now also covers wine, sparkling wine, bridal fashion and nature tourism.
