Pelayos de la Presa is a municipality in the Community of Madrid, in the south-west of the region, beside the San Juan reservoir. The reservoir holds back the waters of the Alberche and is shared by Pelayos de la Presa, Navas del Rey and San Martín de Valdeiglesias.
It is the only reservoir in the region declared a swimming area, which is why it draws visitors. The municipality is home to the Monastery of Santa María de Valdeiglesias, Cistercian in style and dating back to the 12th century. Its territory is surrounded by San Martín de Valdeiglesias, except for an eastern tip that borders Navas del Rey.
