Get to know Parres

Parres is a municipality in the Principality of Asturias. It borders Caravia and Ribadesella to the north, Cangas de Onís to the east, Piloña and Colunga to the west, and Amieva and Ponga to the south. Its capital is the village of Arriondas, on the banks of the Piloña and Sella rivers, home to around half of the population.

The municipality spreads over two main valleys, those of the Sella and the Piloña, and over mountains that include the Sierra del Sueve. Its settlements include Arriondas, San Juan de Parres, Viabaño, Collía, Huera de Dego, Villanueva, Nevares and Llerandi. Arriondas hosts the International Sella Descent every year and has the regional hospital.
