Get to know Pallars Jussá

Pallars Jussà is a comarca in the Alt Pirineu area of Catalonia, in the province of Lleida. Its name is an old form meaning Lower Pallars, and together with Pallars Sobirà to the northeast it makes up the historic Pallars. It was set up as a comarca in 1936 and lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Tremp is the capital and largest municipality, and the comarca also takes in Talarn, Conca de Dalt and La Torre de Cabdella. Talarn has trained army sergeants since 1975. The Noguera Pallaresa and Flamisell valleys run through the area.
