Get to know Palencia

Palencia is the capital and largest municipality of the province of Palencia, in Castile and León. It lies on the left bank of the Carrión, in the northern half of the Inner Plateau. Together with Valladolid and Burgos it forms an economic axis of the autonomous community.

Food processing, metalworking and car making, including the FASA Renault plant, keep the city busy. Relative to its size, it has the largest area of gardens in Castile and León. Being high and far from the sea, it has a continental climate with wide swings in temperature.
