Get to know Palamós

Palamós is a resort town in the Baix Empordà comarca, province of Girona, Catalonia, on the Costa Brava. The port is the reason the town exists, and it had its heyday in the early twentieth century with the cork industry. Since September 2026 the municipality has officially been called Palamós i Sant Joan.

Today the harbour combines fishing, trade and tourism, and tourism is the main source of income. The C31 road bypasses the town and links it with Girona, with Palafrugell to the north and Castell-Platja d'Aro to the south. The GR 92 coastal footpath passes through, heading north to La Fosca beach and south along the promenade to Sant Antoni de Calonge.
