Get to know Ourense

Ourense is the capital of the province of Ourense in northwestern Spain and the third most populous municipality in Galicia. Its hot springs give it the Galician name A cidade das Burgas, and it is one of the European cities with the greatest thermal heritage. Landmarks include the twelfth-century cathedral, the old bridge and the cloister of San Francisco.

The Miño, Barbaña, Loña and Barbañica rivers cross the city. Outside the centre, the municipality takes in places such as Seijalvo, Cudeiro, Velle, Canedo and Vilar. Ourense lies on the Camino Sanabrés path of the Way of St James.
