Get to know Orihuela

Orihuela is a city and municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, capital of the Vega Baja del Segura comarca and neighbour of the Region of Murcia. It is the largest municipality in the province by area and the birthplace of the poet Miguel Hernández. Its old town is a protected historic site, and its Holy Week is of international tourist interest.

The city stands on the Segura river at the foot of the Sierra de Orihuela, surrounded by citrus groves and the Palmeral de San Antonio palm grove. The municipality stretches down to the Mediterranean, where its beaches and the resort of Dehesa de Campoamor lie. Entrenaranjos is one of its outlying villages.
