Get to know Novelda

Novelda is a town in the interior of the province of Alicante, in the Vinalopó Mitjà comarca. It is a major centre of the marble industry, with its own quarries, and is also known for grapes and the spice trade. Carthaginians, Romans and Al Andalus all controlled it in turn.

Its landmarks include the Moorish castle of La Mola, with a unique triangular tower, and the monastery of Santa María Magdalena, whose church was designed by a disciple of Antoni Gaudí. The Museum of Modernism keeps an Art Nouveau house with original pieces, and salt lakes lie in the surroundings.
