Morón de la Frontera is a town in the south of the province of Seville, the centre of the Sierra Sur comarca and seat of its judicial district. Part of its architectural heritage is protected as a historic-artistic site. It is known for the Gazpacho Andaluz flamenco festival, held since 1963.
Around the castle, the old town is a web of narrow, winding and steep streets. Newer neighbourhoods spread across the flat farmland to the west and northwest. The local economy rests on olive oil, cereals, canned vegetables and construction.
