Monforte del Cid is a village in the province of Alicante, in the Valencian Community, Spain. It lies inland, in the comarca of Medio Vinalopó, on a hill that was once crowned by a medieval castle, later turned into the parish church.
Its medieval name was Nompot. Philip V granted it the Order of the Golden Fleece, bordered, and the title of Royal, Loyal and Faithful Town in 1706, for its support in the War of the Spanish Succession. The local language is Spanish.
