Monachil is a municipality in the comarca of Vega de Granada, in the province of Granada, Andalusia, near the provincial capital. It has 8664 inhabitants (2025). The Monachil river rises in its territory, which also holds the Sierra Nevada ski station and the natural spot of Los Cahorros.

It has three population centres: Barrio de la Vega, the most populated, Monachil, the municipal capital, and Pradollano, the highest village in all of Spain. Most of its territory lies within the Sierra Nevada national and natural park.
