Get to know Mollerussa

Mollerussa is the capital of the Pla d'Urgell comarca, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia. The town grew from the 19th century around the Urgell canal, which carries water from the Segre to the fields. The irrigation syndicate based here made it the administrative centre for the area's farmers.

It forms one built-up area with El Palau d'Anglesola, Golmés, Miralcamp and Fondarella, and is the most densely populated municipality in the province. The A2 motorway serves the town, and trains on the Lleida-Manresa line stop here. Its best-known events are the Sant Josep fair of farm machinery and the paper dress contest at the Teatre de l'Amistat.
