Get to know Mieres

Mieres is a municipality, or concejo, of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain, and the seat of its own judicial district. Its capital, Mieres del Camino, still keeps the feel of a small industrial town shaped by coal mines and steelworks. The local campus teaches mining, surveying, forestry and geology engineering.

Besides the capital, the municipality takes in villages such as Turón, Figaredo, Ujo, Santa Rosa, Santullano and Seana. Its neighbours include Oviedo, Langreo, Lena, Aller, Laviana, Morcín and Riosa.
