Get to know Martos

Martos is a city in the province of Jaén, Andalusia, at the foot of the Peña de Martos. It is the second town of the Jaén metropolitan area and is regarded as the largest olive oil producer in the world, with its own olive variety, the marteña. The car industry, led by the Valeo factory, is the other pillar of its economy.

The historic centre, a listed historic-artistic ensemble, has narrow, winding and steep streets around the crag. Newer neighbourhoods spread across the plain to the west and southwest. Highlights of the year include the San Bartolomé fair, Holy Week and the olive festival.
