Get to know Mariña Central

A Mariña Central is a comarca in the north of the province of Lugo, in Galicia, and part of the A Mariña de Lugo area. Its capital is Mondoñedo. The Bay of Biscay borders it to the north and northeast, and A Mariña Oriental lies to the east.

The land mixes coastal plains, the valleys of the Masma at Lourenzá and the Ouro at O Valadouro, and low hills such as the Serra do Xistral. A steep coastline is broken by small coves and estuaries, as at Foz. Burela, Lourenzá, O Valadouro and Alfoz complete the comarca alongside Mondoñedo and Foz.
