Get to know Carranque
Carranque is one of the neighborhoods into which the city of Málaga is administratively divided, in the Cruz de Humilladero district. It is a residential estate built in the 1950s, mixing modest single-family homes with low-rise apartment buildings, and it is an example of the architecture of the Franco-era autarky.
The neighborhood lies in the eastern, residential part of the district, on flat land of the lower Guadalhorce plain. It borders Arroyo del Cuarto and Carlos Haya to the north, Haza Cuevas and El Perchel to the east, 4 de Diciembre, Cruz del Humilladero and Los Palomares to the south, and the Carretera de Cártama industrial estate to the west. It originally worked as an isolated core of the city, with a market, a school and a church.
