Get to know San Isidro

San Isidro is Madrid's neighbourhood number 113, one of the seven that make up the Carabanchel district. It takes its name from the San Isidro meadow, where the festival of the city's patron saint is celebrated every year. It lies between the Vía Carpetana and General Ricardos street, and between the Avenida de Nuestra Señora de Valvanera and the Manzanares river.

It is home to the Colonia Hoteles del Monopoly, built in 1991 on the site of a former shanty town. Its compact linear blocks look like the red hotels of the board game. The colony sits between the Urgel and Marqués de Vadillo stations on Metro Line 5, close to San Isidro park and Madrid Río.
