The Pearl of Sepharad, the second-largest town in Córdoba province and a key road junction.
Lucena is a town and municipality in the province of Córdoba, Andalusia, in the Subbética area. From the 9th to the 12th century it was a major Jewish centre with a Jewish-majority population, which earned it the name Pearl of Sepharad. Its name comes from the Hebrew Eli hossana, meaning God save us.
The town has two zones: el Valle y Dehesa de la Villa, and Centro y San Francisco. It is the second-most populated municipality in the province and sits on an important road junction.
