Los Barrios is a town and municipality in the Campo de Gibraltar comarca, in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. Its position by the Strait of Gibraltar meant people lived here from prehistoric times. The town took shape after the British took Gibraltar in 1704, when refugees from the Rock settled here.
Its municipal area is one of the largest in Spain. For centuries farming and fishing went hand in hand with shipbuilding. The town's name means the neighbourhoods.
