Get to know Lorca

Lorca is a municipality and city in the Region of Murcia, in south-eastern Spain, 58 kilometres southwest of the city of Murcia. In the Middle Ages it was a frontier city between Christian and Muslim Spain, and in Roman times it was known as Ilura or Heliocroca. Lorca Castle and a collegiate church dedicated to St. Patrick stand in the city.

Its municipal area is the second largest in Spain after Cáceres, spread across many rural districts. These include La Hoya, Campillo, Purias, Tercia, Cazalla, Torrecilla and Almendricos.
