Llanes is a municipality (concejo) in the Principality of Asturias, with the title of Muy noble y leal villa. The town sits on the Cantabrian Sea, north of the Picos de Europa. The limestone Sierra del Cuera closes it off to the south.
Its coast is part of the Costa Verde and has many white sand beaches. The monumental heritage is well preserved, and the port still keeps some fishing. Its parts include Posada de Llanes, Nueva, Pría, Barro, Porrúa, Celorio and Poo.
